Alliance Française of Cuba

The first Alliance Française de Cuba was founded in 1883 at the same time as the one in Paris. It was officially recognised in 1951, and in 2024 celebrates its 73rd anniversary. Today, the Alliance Française has over 9,000 students spread over four sites (three in Havana and one in Santiago de Cuba).

Like its counterparts around the world, the Alliance Française in Cuba has three cardinal missions: teaching the French language, cultural activities and documentation. A language centre and a cultural centre, it is a lively, prestigious place that is deeply rooted in Cuban culture, a space open to diversity of thought and creation, a place of reflection that encourages intercultural dialogue. A place to promote young talent.
